Example #008 - The 80/20 rule in designing a high-converting landing page nobody talks about
Hey — it’s Deepak
I’m planning a vacation after One and a half years of building my own business, Any suggestions?
Reading time - 50 secs
This one is based on the 80/20 rule we all know.
If you don’t want to create a salsey landing page that screams "buy now" read this.
But, what does the 80/20 rule mean here?
It's a simple framework for structuring your landing pages.
Here's the breakdown:
80% Value
Dedicate the majority of your landing page to providing valuable information, insights, benefits, free resources, and solutions to your visitor's pain points.
20% Ask
After delivering your value, it's time for the "ask."
This could be requesting an email address for a free trial, signing up for a demo, or simply encouraging them to learn more or buy.
The ask must always be less than the (perceived) value you’ve delivered.
Why Does the 80/20 Rule Work?
People are tired of sales pitches.
The 80/20 Rule flips the script.
By focusing on giving value first, you:
Build trust
Spark interest
Help visitors make informed decisions
It’s based on the principle of reciprocity.
Reciprocity is simply the idea that an individual is more likely to do something for someone else if they have received a favor or gift (value) from that person first.
The principle of reciprocity is basically a fancy way of saying "First you scratch my back, then I'll scratch yours."
Appreciate you reading. It really means a lot.
If you found it useful, consider sharing it with someone who might be interested.
Deepak - see you Tuesday
